Nail Patella syndrome

Autosomal dominant disorder.

  • Hypoplasia / absence of the patella

  • Dystrophic nails

      

  • Dysplasia of the elbows and iliac horns

  • Renal disease

NPS gene located on chromosome 9q34. Mechanism unclear.

Renal disease found in less than half of patients. Usually benign with only 10% progressing to ESRD. Some develop nephrotic syndrome.
