Nephrotic Syndrome

Goodpasture's syndrome

Also known as anti-glomerular basement membrane disease, Goodpasture's syndrome is the result of the development of autoantibodies to the α3 chain of type IV collagen, present within the normal GBM.  The result is a rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) and also lung injury, as the collagen antigen is also present in the alveolar basement membrane.
