Congenital nephrotic syndrome is defined as nephrotic syndrome presenting in the first 3 months of life. It is caused by a variety of pathologies:

Congenital nephrotic syndrome of the Finnish type

Diffuse mesangial sclerosis with Drash syndrome
Minimal change nephrotic syndrome
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
Congenital syphilis
Toxoplasmosis
Cytomegalovirus
HIV infection
Wilm's tumour
Renal vein thrombosis
Systemic lupus erythematosus
