Management of Acute Renal Failure in Children

5am call

You look at the fluid balance chart which confirms that the boy has only passed 30 ml of urine since admission.

His diarrhoea and vomiting seem to have settled.

He still has iv fluids of 0.45% saline + 2.5% dextrose going at 152 ml/hr.

The boy looks slightly puffy and no bladder is palpable.

Blood pressure 125/75. Capillary refill 1 second. Well perfused.

Abdomen soft but still tender.

What would you do next? (more than one response may be correct)
