Serum protein abnormalities

Some problems are related to the loss of specific proteins in the urine:

  • Iron deficiency due to transferrin loss
  • Copper deficiency due to loss of caeruloplasmin
  • Vitamin D deficiency resulting in hypocalcaemia, due to loss of vitamin D carrier protein
  • Thyroxine deficiency due to loss of thyroid binding protein
