Nephrotic syndrome - Investigations

These are the investigations which should be carried out in a newly diagnosed nephrotic patient.

  • Urine dipstick
  • Urine protein / creatinine ratio
  • Serum urea and electrolytes
  • Serum creatinine
  • Serum albumin
  • Serum complement levels (C3 and C4)
  • Varicella zoster IgG

Others of the investigations listed on the previous page may help in the identification of patients who are hypovolaemic.
