Other forms of mineralocorticoid excess
There are a group of rarer disorders that produce the same clinical picture as with primary hyperaldosteronism.
These include Cushing's syndrome and certain malignant tumours that secrete ACTH.
Glucorticoid remedial hypertension is a condition where aldosterone is produced in response to ACTH, rather than to angiotensin II. The ACTH secretion is suppressed by administration of dexamethasone.
