Mineralocorticoid deficiency as a cause of abnormal function of the H⁺ ATPase

Mineralocorticoid deficiency will result in two abnormalities which may effect NH₄⁺ excretion:

1. Hyperkalaemia
2. Impaired Na⁺ reabsorption will lead to failure of voltage augmentation of H⁺ secretion
